"Watercolor Journaling"
" This session with Ohio artist, Don Getz, will focus on how to develop a watercolor journal for traveling or simply painting en plein air with watercolors. Don will take you through step by step the pen and ink sketching and laying in the trasparent watercolor washes to create a lasting and wonderful "Watercolor Journal" of you own."

These journals are a great and simple way to capture memories of your travels, hikes, and even just local scenes." This is a great way to paint en plein air on your journies without all the equipment of oil painting when traveling. A great way to capture your scenes and return to the studio to enlarge them into larger works either in watercolor or oil. Don will do demo's and work alongside each participant. Plenty of personal attention is assured each workshop participant.

her classical still life paintings.

Ms Massey works in oil and pastel creating works through chiaroscuro (light and dark),warm color harmonies and professional craftmanship. She teaches workshops on painting through active questioning and the discovery of relational aspects over rote answers, set theories, or static information. Currently, she is writing her first book on the subject.

"Painting with a concept and not by rote"
Painting with soft or oil pastels workshop

This three-day workshop for adults will use the still life as subject.
Students will explore the means to achieve a believable realistic oil
or dry pastel painting through these elements:
Value, color, edges and paint quality (impasto) and brushwork.
Emphasis will be placed on painting with a concept; a plan to prepare
then realize a painting.  Teacher demonstrations and daily critiques
will focus on the relationships of size/ placement of objects on canvas;
the idea of air and space around those objects, color and the role of
temperature when thinking about color (not color theory or color wheel) ;
to think about creating a unified picture  beyond the literal subject matter;
and, finally, to move beyond copying the surface of things.

John Budicin was born in Rovigno, Italy. He was 12 years old when his family settled in Southern California. After working as a commercial artist for 19 years, John finally decided to make his true passion, art, his lifetime profession. Working primarily on location, he finds his inspirations directly from life.

With many awards and honors, John’s work has been in museum exhibitions and featured in many art magazines, such as, Cowboys and Indians, Art of the West, Southwest Art, Pasadena Magazine, California Art Club Newsletter, and Art Business News. Several of his paintings were selected and published in 200 Great Painting Ideas for Artist, and have been reproduced in several other art books.

Oil Painting Workshop
The cost is $450.00 for 3 day workshop
This workshop will focus on the spirit of plein air.

Through demonstration and lecture, Kenn will help you understand the basic elements of the scene that needs to be brought to the canvas. The fundamentals and principles of art will guide us in developing strong compositional statements using contrast of shape, placement of shape and size relationship of shapes in our paintings.  Discussion on the importance of editing while on location will be addressed.  Other dynamic compositional elements to consider will focus on introducing mood verses detail in our paintings through the application of value, temperature, edge control and brush work. These challenges will be focused on in this workshop while placing importance of personal style and individual vision. This workshop is open to beginners to advanced artists. Class schedule: 9:00am to 12:00pm, 1-hour lunch break. Resume class from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
